Land Birds
The Galapagos islands are home to a very select variety of land birds, the few who made it and survived have become unique species. Many of the mainland species are not represented on the islands as they just never made it or if they did they never adapted to the place. One of the outstanding features is the 13 species of Darwin's Finches which have derived form a common ancestral arrival and now fill the niches of other species not present.
